Practice Manager – SharePoint Platform

Compass365, the Microsoft collaboration solutions division of General Networks Corporation, is hiring for a key position on the team. The Practice Manager of the SharePoint Platform team within Compass365 will work with customers to implement SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams based solutions, as well as migrate content and solutions into Microsoft 365.  As the leader of a highly motivated team of technical and business consultants, you will be responsible day-to-day management of consultants and partnering with the Compass365 VP of Sales on sales and marketing activities.

This position is approximately 60% consulting, 20% management, and 20% sales support.

Primary Responsibilities and Requirements

Practice Manager Responsibilities

  • Leading professional services delivery activities for our customers, including assessment, design, development, deployment, documentation, and support tasks.
  • Hiring, training, and day-to-day management of professional services consultants.
  • Partnering with the account manager during the sales process, including leading discovery meetings, presenting software demos, preparing professional services cost estimates, and describing our professional services delivery methodology.
  • Keeping up to date on your technology area, products, and strategizing the services the team is offering around those technologies.
  • Providing content and feedback for marketing campaigns and materials, such as writing blog articles.
  • Maintaining a Microsoft community presence, presentations at events and, along with Sales, building and maintaining relationships with partners and subcontractors

As a consultant you will be responsible for applying the standards and methods used by Compass365/General Networks to a variety of consulting engagements, including the following activities:

Systems Analysis and Design

  • Gather business requirements through meetings and interviews with users. Produce business requirements documentation and obtain customer sign-off.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into functional design specifications.
  • Conduct a series of design review/prototype meetings with users in an iterative process, during which you develop the system prototype into a final design.
  • Produce functional and technical design specification documents and obtain customer sign-off.

Systems Development

  • Install, configure, and administrate SharePoint, Teams and Microsoft 365
  • Coordinate with the system administrators of other integrated systems.
  • Coordinate with the developers of custom SharePoint features and integrations.
  • Provide end-user documentation and train users.
  • Produce organized and informative system administration and governance documentation.
  • Prepare reports on system usage statistics.
  • Perform knowledge transfer to administrators and helpdesk personnel.

Quality Assurance

  • Produce test scripts and conduct thorough testing of systems being deployed, including unit testing, integrated system testing, regression testing and load testing.
  • Manage end-user testing and acceptance testing, resolve software issues and questions, and obtain customer acceptance of the solution.

System Deployment

  • Deploy solution into production environment, install server and desktop software, and support IT staff with system rollout.
  • Provide end-user documentation and train users.
  • Produce organized and informative system documentation.
  • Perform knowledge transfer to administrators and helpdesk personnel.

Technical Support & Maintenance

  • Provide post-deployment technical support to system users and administrators.
  • Respond to support requests within established service level agreements.
  • Maintain and monitor our client applications and servers, apply upgrades and patches, and resolve issues.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate project activities with client.
  • Provide status reports and participate in weekly status meetings to communicate on progress, problems, and resolutions.
  • Track and manage project issues and software issues. Work with the customer, team members and software vendors, to get issues resolved within the project schedule.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Successful candidates will possess some or all of the following experience and qualifications:

  • Six or more years’ experience with solutioning and configuring content management and collaboration business systems in SharePoint Server and/or SharePoint Online / Microsoft 365.
  • Two or more years of experience managing small project teams or working groups.
  • A talent for technical problem solving as well as creative design of business solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create organized and informative reports, as well as comprehensive, accurate documentation.
  • Gathering and analysis of business requirements, system design and architecture.
  • Strong analytical skills, creativity, and initiative.
  • Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic multi-technology environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Skills to build and develop the client relationship.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or Equivalency.  B.S. in Computer Science or Information Technology desired.
